How to play
Each roll is a stroke. Roll the die, adjust it for the square you're hitting from (fairway +1, sand −1, tee counts as fairway), then choose a highlighted square: exactly that many squares in a straight line, in any of eight directions.
Trees block the line; water can be flown over but not landed in. If no square is legal, the stroke counts and the ball stays.
Landing on the flag from anywhere holes out. On the green you putt: a roll equal to or higher than the squares to the flag sinks it; otherwise the ball moves that many squares closer.
Shaping a shot. Call your shape — draw (bends left) or fade (bends right) — and pick your aim. The ball starts down the aim line and curves late, so a shaped ball can bend around trees a straight shot would hit. Short shots bend 1 square, long ones (5+) bend 2. The shape die says how well you hit it: 1–4 the shape you called — a pure draw runs out 1 square farther, a soft fade lets you choose to stop 1 square short; 5 overcooked — a pull or slice bends one square more (a slice also comes up 1 short); 6 double-cross — the opposite shape. Trees stop the ball in front of them; out of bounds or into water costs a penalty stroke and the ball drops at the last safe square it flew over. Putts can't be shaped.
Mode sets when you have to commit. Easy: roll the distance first, then decide whether to shape, call draw or fade, and aim. Medium: call draw or fade before rolling; once you know the distance, pick your aim. Hard: call the shape and commit to a direction before the distance is rolled — both dice roll on the swing.
Courses. Besides Willow Creek and Blackstone Ridge, the Courses button rolls random courses (a seed plus settings always builds the same course, so a seed is shareable by itself), opens a builder where you paint your own holes, and loads courses from a link or code. Share sends a link; on a phone it opens the share sheet.
